This week we held our second Employee and Employer Connect for 2025. These events are a valuable opportunity to bring together employee and employer representatives from across Australia, providing a platform for attendees to influence, connect and stay informed about the Coal LSL Scheme.
Each event began with an update from Sharife Rahmani, Chief Regulatory Officer, who shared recent developments at Coal LSL and what to expect in the coming months. Imrie Relf, General Manager Regulatory Insights, then presented findings from our recent Debiting of Leave review. This session provided valuable insights for attendees, reinforcing that when in-service leave is taken, both the employer and employee must agree on the number of long service leave hours to be deducted.
We then shifted focus to two of our Guidance Notes – Determining Eligible Wages and Audit Report Requirements. Scott Woods, General Manager Education and Engagement, led this conversation, outlining the purpose of each Guidance Note and inviting feedback on how they could be more relevant and easier to understand.
We wrapped up the sessions with an update from Rodrigo Redante, Product Manager, who shared the success of our recent digital leave submission launch. Rodrigo discussed how the new process is streamlining submissions and improving accuracy. Employer representatives also shared their experiences, highlighting what’s working well and offering suggestions for further improvements. One employer noted that the new process has made it easier to track leave applications.
“At Coal LSL, one of our principles is collaboration, transparency and engagement, we want our stakeholders to feel that we mean this. Our Connect events are a great opportunity for stakeholders to have their say, connect with us in person and learn more about the Scheme, while allowing us to act on their feedback to improve the way we operate,” he shared.
Our next Connect events will be held early 2026. If you're interested in attending, please email us at community@coallsl.com.au
