In March, we held our first Employee and Employer Connect events for 2026. Employers and employee representatives joined Coal LSL senior leaders in two informative sessions to hear the latest updates.
Attendees joined from across the country, taking part in open conversations, gaining practical insights into the Scheme and connecting directly with our senior leaders.
Shared focus: understanding legislative changes
A key focus was the Coal Mining Industry (Long Service Leave) Legislation Amendment Bill 2025 (the Bill), introduced to Parliament on 26 November 2025. The sessions helped explain the upcoming changes proposed in the Bill, what they mean and how to prepare.
Insights tailored to each audience
Each Connect event also focused on topics specific to its audience, with presenters sharing targeted updates and insights relevant to employee and employer stakeholders.
This included progress on current Coal LSL projects, alongside data-driven insights into common issues and practical tips to navigate Scheme entitlements and compliance.
The value of on-site education sessions
A highlight of both events was an overview of Coal LSL’s on-site education sessions for both employees and employers. Presenters shared real examples of how these sessions help employees understand their entitlements and how to access them and help employers comply with their obligations.
The message was clear – targeted education can build confidence, reduce confusion and lead to better outcomes for everyone.
A platform to influence, connect and stay informed
‘Genuine collaboration is key,’ said Sharife Rahmani, Coal LSL Chief Regulatory Officer.
‘We want to share our updates, but we’re also very keen for attendees to share their views, raise challenges and contribute ideas. Our goal is to make Connect events practical, relevant, and useful for everyone.’
The next Connect events will be held in October 2026. To register your interest, email community@coallsl.com.au.
